Novato woman dies in crash

A 25-year-old Novato woman died early Sunday after she apparently let her SUV drift off Highway 101 near San Antonio Road.
According to the CHP, Elisabeth Evelyn Allread, who turned 25 on Aug. 11, was killed when her 1995 Land Rover Discovery, headed south on 101, drifted off to the left.

SR man dies after car slams into tree

A 27-year-old Santa Rosa man was killed Saturday when the Honda Civic he was driving crashed into a tree in west Santa Rosa, police said.
Daniel J. Overmyer died at the scene of the crash about 8:10 a.m. at Northpoint Parkway and Kingfisher Way, just west of Stony Point Road.

Cotati man accused of possessing child porn

A local tow truck driver has been arrested for allegedly possessing thousands of downloaded images of child pornography, Cotati police said Saturday.
George Clair, 36, of Cotati is being held on $500,000 bail in Sonoma County Jail after a monthslong probe that led to his arrest Aug. 11.

Grape forecast
revised upward
The USDAs Agricultural Statistics Services last week unexpectedly revised its grape forecast upward, predicting 3.4 million tons of grapes will be harvested this year.
The new number is 6 percent above the 3.2 million ton prediction from the prior month.
